Ringgit climbs vs US dollar as markets await inflation data
The Malaysian ringgit ended higher against the US dollar on Wednesday, rising to 4.0835/0875 from 4.0905/0940, as markets awaited the US July CPI report. Bank Muamalat chief economist Dr Mohd Afzanizam Abdul Rashid said the ringgit was well supported while other Asian currencies were mixed, with consensus estimates pointing to US CPI of 3.4 per cent in July versus 3.5 per cent in June.
